Ways To Celebrate National Dog Day

Dog is man’s best friend. Dogs are creatures that love you more than they love themselves.

National Dog Day is celebrated every year on August 26th. It was founded in 2004 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert, Animal Advocate, Conservationist, Dog Trainer, and Author, Colleen Paige.

National Dog Day celebrates all dogs and breeds. The mission of National Dog Day is to help the public to recognize the number of dogs that need rescuing each year and acknowledges family dogs, along with the dogs that work each day selflessly to save lives, keep us safe.

Ways To Celebrate National Dog Day

“Dogs’ lives are too short. Their only fault, really.” – Agnes Sligh Turnbull

Those of us who have fur-babies realize that there is nothing better than the love and affection these 4-legged creatures have for us. No matter what is going on, they are always there to love and protect us. So let’s take this special day and do something a little something special for them!

If you’re looking for some new and exciting things to do with your dog, we’ve collected some of our favorite dog-friendly activities for a perfect pet holiday.

Let’s Walk

Walking your Dogs

Most dogs love exploring new and exciting places with their best friend. If there’s an area, beach, or local trail you’ve wanted to check out, take your dog with you. Be sure to keep them on a leash, though; you never know what may spook them or get their attention and take off running.

Going for a walk is probably not a great idea during the hottest part of the day, so be sure to go in the early morning or after sunset. We don’t want your 4-legged friend to overheat! And be sure to bring some water along with you, for you and your dog.

Playdate!

Playdate with Dogs

If you only have one dog or animal in the home, and you are gone most of the day, your pup may tend to get a little depressed and even bored. National Dog Day is a great time to get them together with other dog friends. Or you could also take them to the dog park. Let them run and play and enjoy all the new and old friends they may find there.

Do You Smell That??

Treats for Dogs

Like we get a cake for our birthdays, we can bake our furry friends a dog-friendly treat! There are lots of recipes online for doggy cakes, homemade biscuits, and even pup-sicles. It’s not only fun to make something handmade for your pet, but they’re sure to love whatever you make for them!

Donate

Donate on National Dog Day

You may not be able to adopt a new dog, but you can show your love by donating your time or extra cash to your local shelter. Unfortunately, many dogs find their way to the shelter every year, and they could always use a few extra hands or money to make sure the animals in the shelter are taken care of.

Give Them Daily Supplements

Try Vital Pet Life's Salmon Oil for Dogs! Salmon oil is a great way to help your dog's skin and coat. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for healthy skin and coat. Omega-3 fatty acids help to keep your dog's skin hydrated and moisturized, and they also help to reduce inflammation. This can help to improve the appearance of your dog's skin and coat, and it can also help to reduce itching and irritation.

In addition to improving the appearance of your dog's skin and coat, salmon oil can also help to improve their overall health. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to have a number of health benefits for dogs,
