Meet Dr. Amber DVM!

With pet parents now adding treats, toppers, mix-ins and supplements to their pets’ diets, veterinarians must be knowledgeable in the trending preventative and therapeutic world of pet wellness. With our ever growing and conscientious pet parent community, providing educational resources is a top priority. In 2022, we welcomed Dr. Amber Da Silva, DVM to our Vital Pet Life team. In our “Ask Dr. Amber'' series, pet parents ask her specific questions about their pets’ health. Dr. Amber posts weekly educational videos about a broad range of topics, including proper pet weight, nutritional needs and skin and coat issues.

Dr. Amber Da Silva always wanted to be a doctor. While in college, she began volunteering at a low-cost spay and neuter clinic. It was then she decided to combine her desire to become a doctor with her love for animals and become a veterinarian. She attended veterinary school at Colorado State University and graduated in 2007. She worked exclusively in small animal general practice. In 2018, she started Mountain West Medical Writing as a side hustle and in 2020 she left clinical practice to pursue more writing and editing opportunities. Her free time is best spent with her husband and children. The family enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, hiking, camping, and cycling. When home, Dr. Amber can usually be found curled up in her favorite chair with a good cup of coffee and a good book.
