Are You a Pet Parent? We Celebrate You

Pet Parent’s Day isn’t a federal holiday, but maybe it should be! For those of us who scoop poop, dish out kibble, brush their fur, share a cramped bed with them, and take them for daily walks, today, April 25 is your day!

Initially founded in 2007 by Veterinary Pet Insurance, National Parent Pet Day was created to celebrate the pet parents that consider their pets to be part of their families. In 2020, it was reported that 67% of U.S. households have at least one pet.

For most pet parents, their pets are valued members of their families. Pets are considered their fur-baby, best friends, best companions, and even soul mates because they are so special to us. They make us smile, they listen when we need an ear, and they ways provide unconditional love.

Ways to Celebrate

Pets love to be spoiled. Here are a few ideas to spoil them and yourselves today!

  • Give them a new toy
  • Find a new place to explore
  • Visit your favorite pet-friendly restaurant
  • Find a new dog park
  • Go on a small road trip so you and your pup can enjoy some new sights (and smells)!
  • After your road trip, stop at the local ice cream shop and get your friend a vanilla pup cup.

Adopt-A-Pet

Adopt a pet

In April 2020, there was a 335% surge in Google searches for ‘adopt a pet’ — this shows that many more people were interested in adopting pets since the pandemic began. Is it because we were looking for companionship while we were not allowed to be around others? Is it because we need more love? Not sure we will ever know, but this shows how much we pet parents cherish our fur babies and need them in our lives.

Give them Supplements

Nutrition plays a big part in our pet’s overall well-being. Fish oil for dogs is one of the best supplements for a healthy diet. This supplement contains "good" fats called Omega 3 fatty acids that are beneficial to the body and brain of your dog.

So Rewarding

The bond between pets and their pet parents is like no other! They love us unconditionally. They don’t care where we live, what we do, or how we do it! The only thing they care about is that we are there with and for them. They don’t hold judgment or grudges; they prefer to live in the moment and not think about the past.

They are always there for us. Pets comfort us when we are feeling down, celebrate with us when we are happy, and will always enjoy a nap on the couch with us. They are always excited to see us when we get home after a long day at work.

They provide us with endless entertainment! Whether it’s them jumping around, wagging their tales, and knocking things off the coffee table, or while they are taking an afternoon nap and start dreaming. Many pets dream while they sleep. Some with run marathons, growl, bark, and even snore!
