International Women’s Day - Donie Yamamoto, Founder of Vital Pet Life

Donie Yamamoto - Vital Pet Life

March 8 is International Women’s Day, recognizing women’s achievements, raising awareness and advocating for gender equality. This holiday dates back to over one hundred years ago, when women fought for better working conditions, pay and voting rights. Today we celebrate the diversity and strength of women from all cultures across the globe.

Vital Pet Life is proud to be a woman-owned business. It was founded by Donie Yamamoto in April 2017 when she couldn’t find a calming, non-GMO, toxin-free solution for her dog Tuxedo’s extremely dry skin and hair. She began researching environmentally-friendly solutions. Tuxedo's dramatic improvement led her to create Vital Pet Life with Salmon Oil as the first product. Her mission is to continue providing pets and their owners with safe, effective, and sustainable pet wellness products.

Entrepreneurial spirit

Donie has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. At a young age, she owned a small swimwear store in the Philippines. Despite the hurdles faced by being a female entrepreneur in a patriarchal society, this early business inspired her as she moved to the United States.

Building resilience through adversity

Different industries have faced many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The supply chain turbulence Donie experienced taught her valuable lessons. Remaining nimble in order to be able to pivot was instrumental during this period. Donie and her team have focused on remaining optimistic, despite obstacles. Knowing that so many pet families have suffered from the effects of the pandemic keeps them humble and grateful.

Purpose driven to provide sustainable products

Tuxedo's skin issues inspired Donie to create Vital Pet Life. Her goal is to promote the healing of animals through clean and mindfully formulated products while also partnering with local animal rescue organizations to help animals find forever homes.

She believes everyone should have access to affordable, clean, and trustworthy pet products. Being a chemically sensitive person, one of her core beliefs revolves around making consciously crafted and sustainable products while keeping in mind that pets and their owners may also have sensitivities to chemicals.

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize every woman’s achievements. Take a moment to support the women in your community and let them know how inspiring they are!
