When Should You Bathe Your Dog?

When Should You Bathe Your Dog?

Dogs make wonderful companions, but sometimes while playing, they come to our house covered in mud or smell like the outdoors.

So when should you bathe your dog? Knowing this is crucial since bathing them could have a lot of impact on them. Overbathing can be uncomfortable because of the drying effect on their skin, while skipping bath time can cause them to scratch and itch from fleas, which can lead to skin wounds.

Things You Should Ask Yourself Before Bathing Your Dog

When was the last time you bathed them?
Did they smell, or were they covered in dirt by playing outside?

What is your dog's lifestyle? What is your dog's breed?

Whenever you decide to give your dog a new, fresh, soapy bath, you should keep these factors in mind.

Most dogs need to be washed once every two to three months. The rule is that dogs with thick fur coats must be washed more often than those with thinner coats. Some of the most common questions asked by new dog owners are choosing the best shampoo, how often to bathe their pet, and how to dry them afterward properly.

Remember that you will only give your dog a necessary bath if it is covered in extreme dirt that may make it feel uncomfortable, even if it is less than 1-2 months since you last washed them. Just use a gentle shampoo or soap and avoid giving them a lengthy shower, as doing so will dry up their skin.

How to Properly Give Your Dog a Bath

If you want to wash your dog, brush its hair first.
Always use a gentle shampoo that won't strip your dog's natural hair oils.
Wash your dog thoroughly with lukewarm water and ensure the shampoo is properly washed off.
Use a soft towel that can absorb water well to dry off your dog after a bath.
Use a blow dryer to easily dry the wetness on your dog’s body to avoid leaving moist and catching dirt while they are still damp.

Regular bathing is fine, but too much watering down might remove the natural oils from your dog's skin and coat. If you wash your pet more often than once a month, use a moisturizing shampoo and apply conditioner afterward to restore its natural oils.

The skin might become irritated, the dog's smell can become unpleasant, and illness can occur if you don't bathe your dog. You need to begin routinely cleaning your dog immediately if you haven't been doing so already.

Oatmeal Aloe Shampoo for Dogs

Keep your pets clean and healthy with our natural pet shampoo. A combination of oatmeal, aloe vera, and jojoba oil helps moisturize and soften their coats to keep them soft, shiny, and smooth. The anti-inflammatory properties of oatmeal, aloe vera, yucca, chamomile, and jojoba oil also help soothe sensitive skin. We do not use an ingredient like sulfate, paraben, or isothiazolinone which makes it safe and effective for our pets.

Dogs like cleanliness just as much as people do. The only real distinction is that while dogs can occasionally clean themselves with a lick or two, they depend on their human for most of their grooming needs. Their quality of life can be greatly enhanced by regular grooming and care, including bathing and tooth brushing.

Check with your physician or dog groomer if you still need to figure out how often you should bathe your pup.
